What is inside
The building covers almost 4,000 square metres. Its permanent exhibition, 400 square metres in a staging by Christophe Martin, presents Yves Saint Laurent’s work as a journey through his inspirations, anchored in Marrakech. Beside it are a temporary exhibition hall of 120 square metres, a research library of more than 5,000 books, a 140-seat auditorium, a bookshop and a cafe with a terrace. The architects are Studio KO, founded by Olivier Marty and Karl Fournier: from outside, the museum is a set of cubes clad in brick laid like the weave of a fabric, and inside it is smooth and bright, like the lining of a garment.
Hours and the Wednesday closure
The museum opens from 10:00 to 18:00, with the last entry at 17:30, and closes every Wednesday (museeyslmarrakech.com, November 2026). The garden and the Berber museum open every day, so on a Wednesday book the garden alone or the garden and Berber museum ticket. The garden opens at 8:00, two hours before the museum, which makes a morning slot the natural order: garden, Berber museum, then the YSL museum at 10:00. Opening hours has all three side by side, and the Berber museum covers the museum inside the garden.
