The Berber Museum in the Jardin Majorelle

The Pierre Berge Museum of Berber Arts is inside the Jardin Majorelle, in the painter Jacques Majorelle’s former studio, and it is sold only with the garden: 230 DH for the garden and the museum, or 330 DH with the YSL museum as well (November 2026). It opens every day from 8:30 to 17:00, last entry 16:30. Take an audio guide if you want the objects explained; the museum’s own rooms carry maps and audiovisual material on the Berber peoples, but the audio guide covers the garden and the YSL museum too.

The museum stands at the heart of the garden, so you reach it through the garden, on a ticket that includes it; the garden-only ticket does not. The museum opens half an hour after the garden and stops admitting at 16:30, half an hour before the garden’s last entry.

What is inside

The museum opened in 2011 in Majorelle’s old painting studio, at the heart of the garden. It shows more than 600 objects collected by Pierre Berge and Yves Saint Laurent, from the Rif in the north of Morocco to the Sahara, laid out in four spaces, each on its own theme. The first presents the history and geography of the Berbers, the Amazigh peoples of Morocco, with a map of the main tribes, and audiovisual material runs through the whole visit. The museum prints its exhibition guide in French, English, Arabic and Tifinagh, the Berber script.

Fitting it into the visit

Walk the garden first and enter the museum on the way round: on a combined ticket the visit must start at the garden anyway. Allow half an hour or more for the museum, then walk on to the YSL museum, which opens at 10:00 and is closed on Wednesdays; see the YSL museum.
